Get an Accessible Municipality Website in 6 to 8 Weeks.
Accessibility rules are written for people with legal departments. You have a budget to close, a meeting to post, and a phone that keeps ringing.
When you hand off your municipal site to Town Web:
- We handle the compliance mumbo-jumbo (WCAG 2.1 AA) so you can take off your IT hat
- You get pre-filled ordinances, agendas, and minutes, so you’re not starting from a blank site
- Your rate is locked, with no automatic annual increases, and a real person who knows your name answers the phone

The transition was so smooth... Town Web’s team was so easy to work with. If we had questions, they were extremely easy to get a hold of.

What Is All This ADA Mumbo-Jumbo, and How Can Town Web Help?
The ADA is a law regarding website accessibility. Your website is the online town hall, so every resident needs to be able to use it, whatever their abilities.
In 2024, the Department of Justice stopped leaving that to interpretation. It named one specific standard your site has to meet: WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
So what does this jumble of letters mean in plain English?
In practice, it means images need descriptions, text needs enough contrast to read, everything has to work without a mouse, forms need labels, videos need captions. PDFs count, too. A scanned agenda reads as nothing at all to a screen reader.
-
Image descriptions
Every photo and logo carries a description a screen reader can read out.
-
Readable contrast
Text stands off its background enough to read in daylight, or with low vision.
-
Keyboard navigation
Every menu, form and link works without ever touching a mouse.
-
Form labels
Each field says what it wants, and says it to assistive technology too.
-
Video captions
Recorded meetings are captioned, so residents can follow along.
-
Accessible PDFs
A scanned agenda reads as nothing at all. Real text does.
Before you start getting sweaty palms, know this: you don’t have to fix everything, and you don’t have to do it alone.
Older documents and properly archived content are excepted under the rule. And for brand new sites?
Town Web handles all of it. We build to WCAG 2.1 AA from the start, sort your documents, and show whoever posts your agendas how to keep it that way.
Got More Questions? We’ve Got Your Answers
How much does a municipal website cost?
It depends on the size of your municipality (population) and on what you want the website to do. The core website starts at $99/mo. Options like online payments, facility booking, licenses and permits, White-Glove Service or .gov email add to that. Tell us what you need and we’ll work with you on a solution that fits your needs and your budget. Details are on the pricing page.
What do you mean by ethical pricing?
The price in your contract is fixed for the whole term. No annual increase written into the contract, no mid-year changes, no surprise add-ons. Plenty of vendors raise a customer’s price every year because they can. We don’t think that’s a fair way to treat a town. If we want more of your budget, we’ll earn it by building something worth paying for.
How is Town Web different from other companies?
Unlimited support is included: call, email or chat as often as you need, with no per-ticket or hourly billing. If you’d rather not touch the website at all, our White-Glove Service does the updates on your behalf: send us the agenda, the notice or the new page and we post it. And we run on Midwestern values: straight answers, fair prices, and we pick up the phone.
We already have a website and a vendor.
That’s most of the people we talk to. Your quote includes migrating your existing content. If you go ahead, you review a staged site before anything goes live, and your old site stays up until the new one is ready, typically 6–8 weeks from signing to launch.
